A digital space for healing, together
Numinus is reshaping mental wellness through evidence-based psychedelic therapy, and needed a digital space to match their groundbreaking care. Applied arts partnered with their team to design a community app that brought their refreshed brand to life—creating an inclusive, emotionally resonant experience that supports users beyond the clinic. From research-backed user journeys to intuitive UI, we built a platform for learning, connection, and healing, helping Numinus extend their impact and deepen support along the mental health journey.
In the world of mental wellness, Numinus is at the forefront of transformation, delivering safe, evidence-based psychedelic care through a national network of clinics and licensed therapists. But their commitment to healing goes beyond the clinical setting. In psychedelic therapy, treatment doesn’t end when the session does—processing and applying insights over time is just as important. To truly support their clients, Numinus needed to offer something more: a digital space for connection, learning, and support.
That’s where Applied arts came in.
Our challenge was to help bring Numinus’ newly refreshed brand into the digital space through the design of a community app. The goal was not only to apply a visual expression of the new identity, but also to create an experience rooted in the needs of the people it served. That meant designing something that felt human, inclusive, and grounded in the lived experience of those navigating their mental health journeys.
In partnership with the Numinus product team, we began with research-backed user journeys that explored app engagement, from discovering educational content and peer stories to participating in discussions or integrating clinical care into everyday life. Working from these insights, we built wireframes that mapped critical flows across content discovery, self-guided learning, and community engagement. Along the way we uncovered opportunities to add new features that would deepen connection and support user agency.
With a compressed 12-week timeline, we worked in parallel with the development team to ensure a seamless handoff from design to build. Throughout the process, we translated Numinus’ brand into a digital environment that felt trustworthy and emotionally resonant—balancing calming visuals with intuitive functionality. The UI was designed to reflect the brand’s roots without feeling clinical or sterile. Above all, we carefully considered the user and importance of community building to create an experience that felt as supportive as it was usable.
Ultimately, the Numinus community app was about building a digital space where people could feel seen, supported, and empowered. For Applied arts, it was the kind of work that goes beyond design, where empathy, intention, and impact all come together. For a company reshaping what healing can look like, the app marked a meaningful next step of bridging their clinical care to community connection in a space designed to support the full journey inward.
